Pensions Rocks is back!

Following two successful years of battle of the bands for pensions professionals, Pensions Week and Redington are thrilled to announce the sequel: Pensions Rocks III!

This prestigious event, to be held at the 100 Club, Oxford St, London, has been so overwhelmed with entries that we will be holding three events: One on February 22, 2012, one of February 23, 2012 and one on February 29, 2012.

Over the three nights, 18 bands will fight to be crowned champions of Pensions Rocks 2012. The companies taking part so far are:

Redington, Schroders, Aviva Investors, Mercer, the National Employment Savings Trust (Nest), F&C Investments, Towers Watson, Legal & General Investment Management, Standard Life, Standard Life Investments, Standard Life, MHP, AJ Bell, The Pensions Playpen, Man/GLG, Lorica, Torquil Clark, EFG Asset Management and Sackers.

Come back soon to see updated bios and pictures of the bands.

Why are the bands taking part?

Pensions Rocks is a one of a kind event for the pensions industry, allowing actuaries, lawyers, accountants, investment experts, consultants and trustees to fulfil their wildest rock fantasies in one of London's most historic venues. And it's all for charity. Each band arrives representing their own chosen charity, and the winning band takes home the lion's share of the money raised on the night, through ticket sales, band entry fees and a raffle.

May's event raised over £7,500 and saw F&C Investments' Pink Torpedo crowned as champions of the inaugural Pensions Rocks!. Pink Torpedo, consisted of Carl Yearwood, James Rixon, Simon Cordery and Paul Grice.

Last February's event raised almost £16,000 over the two nights, with Schroders and Towers Watson crowned as kings of rock.

Independent consultant Ros Altmann acted as compere for our first event and said she was blown away by the truly exceptional musical talent.

"Everyone seemed to get into the spirit of the evening and had a great time, listening to talented musicians and raising money for good causes," she said. "The talent among pensions professionals was amazing, perhaps this keeps us all young; it may even add to the longevity problems but who cares?"
