A J ReBELLion
AJ Bell
Formed in the local pub one Tuesday lunchtime not so long ago, the members of A J reBELLion realised that they were destined to play together as soon as they met. With musical tastes stretching from thrash metal to pop rock, no song would satisfy all the members of the band and so, logically, any song would satisfy every member of the band! They ate, they drank, they chatted, they promised to get together and rehearse one day; and maybe they will, or maybe Pensions Rocks 2012 will be their first time playing together. Who can predict the future? Long live the reBELLion!
Band Members:
Philippa Payne - Vocals
Born on the same day as Quincy Jones, and winner of a prestigious talent contest at the tender age of 12, Philippa was always destined to be legendary! Her motto is "Live by day and rock out at night". With a Rebel Yell as the sun goes down, she is Born to be Wild.
Claire Preston - Keyboards
Claire was born to be a rebel; her dexterity on a PC keyboard is matched only be her speed on a synth keyboard and she claims to hold the Guinness Book of Records award as the fastest arpeggio player in the world (her name appears on the missing page between 102 and 103). Her mission is to wow the audience before trashing the stage (because that’s what rebels do).
Craig Albrecht - Lead Guitar
Born in small town USA, Craig was soon entertaining the whole town and its surrounding area, with as many as 50 people turning up to some of his outdoor performances. Fuelled by adrenaline (an illegal drug 20 years ago), and a vague belief that Jimi Hendrix was still performing in London clubs, Craig crossed the Atlantic to the UK to further his music career and now regularly entertains crowds of sometimes as many as 75 beer guzzlers at his local in Ormskirk.
Steve Davidson - 6 and 7-string Guitars
While not buying or building guitars with an increasingly varied number of strings, Steve enjoys listening to music that is far too complex and difficult for him to play. Next on the wish list are a 12-string bass and a one-string Whamola. A harp can't be too far away.
Bernard Yardley - Bass
Bernard still remembers the first time he picked up a bass guitar almost 30 years ago. In those days, his teenage enthusiasm made up for a lack of talent. Older and wiser now, the enthusiasm has mellowed but the lack of talent still remains very much in evidence.
Steve Gillon - Drums
In a career covering two decades, and with a style variously described as "interesting" (Thelwall Gazette), "unconventional" (Out & About in Altrincham) and "limited" (Ashton-upon-Mersey Review), Steve has quite literally set the Manchester wedding and party scene alight. However, following an injunction gained by the frightened revellers at an arsonphobic society Christmas bash, he is no longer allowed to possess any accelerants.
