Band Biography

Much like Bowie and Jagger got together specifically to perform at Live Aid, so Mosh have formed specially to play at the Pension Rocks event in London. Indeed, some of the band members only met for the first time at their inaugural rehearsal, but have since regularly bonded over three beers and one red wine. Though the four below are the band’s beating heart, they are hoping to recruit some ‘oohs and ahhs’ in the run up to February and are hopeful their first foray onto the stage together won't be their last.

Band Members:

Wendy Svirakova – Vocals
At the age of 15, Wendy’s parents finally allowed her to stop taking piano lessons, although today she wishes she had stuck to it just a little longer. She then turned to singing in order express her teenage self (‘why does nobody understand me?’) while repeatedly playing minor chords on the guitar. At last, turning to more grown up things, she became part a vocal ensemble in Germany and more recently had a chance to show cast her voice at the Pensions Rocks concert in 2011. She is looking forward to doing it all again in 2012!

Richard O’Halloran – Guitar
Despite having started playing guitar 21 years ago, Richard is a newcomer to the gigging business, his most recent stage appearance before Pensions Rocks being as ‘Shepherd No.12’ in the Vigo County Primary School nativity play in 1981. However he learnt then that hiding behind other shepherds can be a great cure for nerves, and hopes that hiding behind his amplifier will have a similar effect this time around.

Russ Harris - Drums
After trying all manner of musical instruments over many many years, eventually dawned that there wasn’t really any natural talent there in the first place …. but refusing to listen to helpful advice to give up, turned to drums. Normally seen keeping time on an electric kit – “the wife would never allow me a normal kit” …. this second gig playing on an acoustic set should be…um…. interesting ! “Just as well the kit already set up otherwise there wouldn’t be any hope” ! Occasionally gigs within the boundaries of a small country village with “Suffolk Mountain Rescue” . What time will the bar open?

Paula Cappuccini – Vocals
Paula first took the stage as part of a family act called the “Flaming Cappucinis”. There followed a number of different line-ups and bands, before Paula joined Mosch – the original “Mosh” line-up felt they were short of a “C”. Paula now likes to focus on writing songs – retiring to a “small village just outside Naples” in the summers for inspiration.

Damian Maher – Bass
Originally played six string but switched to bass because like Joe Strummer says, there's five guitar players already. As a consequence still plays with a pick.  Rehearses regularly with City based Power Trio, however, a lack of time and organisational skills mean his appearances on stage are limited to about once every eighteen months. When offered the opportunity to play the 100 Club, it is reported Maher commented "If someone else organises it and lugs in the gear, I am there. What time will the bar close?"
